I forgot to do this before I turned 20….and now I’m 20..and well I just want to reflect a little. Because that’s what I do haha.
1. Spent my 19th birthday at school - my first ever birthday where I wasn’t at home, and it was pretty great, actually.
2. In March I celebrated my brother’s 15th birthday with our neighbors Sam and Owen. Our family and theirs used to always go out to eat for birthdays and stuff, and I was glad to notice that absolutely nothing had changed. I still made a “secret concoction” at the dinner table, laughing hysterically about its contents…even at the age of 19.
3. In April I lost my appetite completely and it was terrifying. Though I did come to realize that I’d never really been very sick before in my life…pretty fortunate.
4. In April/May I learned that University Health Services is probably one of my least favorite places in the world - up there with the RMV for sure.
5. In May I left my favorite cute old dorm and this was actually the saddest point of the year. It was more of a house than a dorm, and the last weekend I spent there may have been the best weekend of my life…it’s up there.
6. I got a piece of cheese pizza for $1 while being trampled by drunken college students and hit in the head with a pizza box….awesome.experience.
7. Spent a few days in Newport with mom and sissie - lovelovelove newport, felt like a rich person! admired my mom’s business skills, etc
8. Ran in the July 4th road race with dad per usual and it was great per usual. Got a terrible time and loved every second of it. Spent July 3rd at a block party only to realize that I live in the best neighborhood in the world.
9. On that note, went to my mailman’s retirement party that had about 300 attendees, and my mom organized it. It was beautiful.
10. Saw what is now one of my favorite movies in theaters with my sister - Midnight in Paris! Thus began my fascination with Woody Allen
11. Started a summer job that I fell in love with. Learned lots about little kids and created some pretty unforgettable bonds (though I’m sure my preschoolers have forgotten all about it by now).
12. Started writing for an actual newspaper in my town and actually got published and actually got paid for writing for the first time ever!
13. Visited my friends from school and played free laser tag - doesn’t get much better than that.
14. Completely conquered my fear of driving on the highway yay!
15. Spent the most beautiful week of summer in my favorite place to be in the summer, maine! (+ survived a ‘hurricane’)
16. Joined history club! And started writing for the school’s newspaper. Got an officer position of the history club, woooooo
17. Spent columbus day weekend ON THE BEACH and it was beautiful.
18. Learned Latin!
19. Picked up some great snippets to add to the story of my life.
